Maki Ohkojima + Maquis《SHUKU》

New works will be showed at Roppongi Art Night.

The work will be a new mixed-media installation, “SHUKU,” which will be centered around a mirrored dodecahedron over 1 meter in diameter and will include woodwork, glasswork, ironwork, plants, LED lighting, and more. The exhibition will be held a little earlier than the Art Night period. We hope you will come to Roppongi to see the work.

 

Date: 5/20 (Sat.) – 5/26 (Fri.) and Art Night from 5/27 (Sat.) 10:00 – 5/28 (Sun.) 18:00. The hours are basically on the public street, so you can see the exhibition from about 8:00 am to midnight.

Location: Roppongi Hills West Walk North
(The entrance is in the gate building near Louise Bourgeois’ giant spider sculpture “Maman”).

《SHUKU》
A mixed-media installation centered on a mirrored dodecahedron over 1 meter in diameter, the
work is composed of glass, ironwork, plants, LED lighting, sound, and other elements.In this
work, Shuku, a mysterious ancient deity from various parts of Japan, is represented as a
modern-day possession of a “cyborg deity” that mixes natural and man-made objects, organic
and inorganic, human and other species without boundaries.

 

《Member》
“SHUKU” is the work by “Maquis”, an artist group of indeterminate membership consisting of Maki Ohkojima, Yosuke Tsuji, and Muneaki Donald Kuyama. In addition to Ryuhei Moriyama and Keikiyo Takemata (wood and lacquer work) and Rafael Zarazua (glass), San-ei Ironworks is participating in the production of the ironwork.
